Wow! It's been a really long time since I updated the blog. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that life in our house is absolutely crazy 99% of the time, so blogging has gone to the back burner.
So much has happened since my last update, so I'll try to fill you in as much as I can.
First I'll update you on Callie . . . She started dance (tap & ballet) the 2nd week of school. She loves it so much. The first week she went, her face was full of absolute joy. She wears her ballet skirt and leotard so much that we can never find it when it's time to actually go to class. We had her first parent/teacher conference. I didn't learn anything earth-shattering about her. She is doing well for her age and just needs to work on not talking so much. Sound like anyone else we know? :-) She's had a hard time adjusting to not taking a nap at school, so we've struggled with her behavior at home after school. But we're making progress with that as well. She's still in gymnastics and is doing great. It's nice to see the girls do actual gymnastics finally after two years of working up to this.
Now on to Jack . . . he wil 8 weeks old tomorrow (Tuesday the 29th). He is still sleeping a lot and eating more each feeding it seems. We've had a few nights where he's gone 5-6 hours between bottles, so that is a HUGE change. Tim and I aren't in quite as big of a fog as we were 3 weeks ago. He has started to smile a little and is really alert when he's awake. We weighed him today and he's up to 10 lbs 11 oz. I can't believe it! His umbilical cord finally fell off last Tuesday night. That's right . . . it took 7 weeks, that's 49 days, for that sucker to come off. It took Callie's 37 days. I just thought that was forever. So, he had his first bath the next night. He screamed the entire time, but it was nice to know he had been washed with more water than a washcloth could hold.
I was sitting in his room rocking him last week and everything that we've been through hit me. I can't tell you how thankful I am that he is here and well and happy (well, most of the time). I'm also thankful that I'm here and well and happy (again, most of the time.) It was a rough road to get where we are. I'm sure there will be many more rough patches ahead, but we made it this far, so I know we'll be able to face whatever the next challenge is that comes our way.
I have 3 weeks left of maternity leave. I go back to school on Oct 19th. I hope I'm ready by then. I know I definitely want to go back, but it will be hard leaving my little man all day. I just hope that he's sleeping more regularly by then. Ha!
I will post pictures on a separate post. I'm not organized enough to have them all ready tonight.
